A well-maintained acrylic chamber stays clear, sealed, and safe for years. Acrylic is durable but reacts differently than glass to certain chemicals and stresses, so a few simple habits make a big difference.
Cleaning acrylic the right way
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth with mild soapy water or a cleaner designed for acrylic.
- Avoid ammonia-based glass cleaners, acetone, and other strong solvents — they can cause hazing or stress cracking.
- Never use abrasive pads or scouring powders, which scratch the surface and reduce transparency.
- Blot spills promptly rather than rubbing them in.
Operating within pressure limits
Vacuum-capable chambers are rated down to −0.1 MPa gauge pressure. Stay within the rated limit, evacuate and vent gradually, and never apply positive pressure unless your unit was specifically designed and approved for it. Glove boxes labeled “non-vacuum” are for inert-gas purging only and must not be connected to a vacuum pump.
Gloves, seals, and consumables
Gloves, gaskets, and O-rings are wear items. Inspect them regularly for thinning, cracking, or loss of seal, and replace them before they fail. Keeping seals in good condition is the easiest way to maintain a reliable atmosphere.
When to stop and inspect
Stop operation immediately if you notice cracks, deformation, leaks, abnormal noise, or any unsafe behavior, and contact us before continuing. Catching issues early protects both your samples and your equipment.
